MEET BRYAN
Bryan began his tutoring services in 2009, at the request of his former high school AP Calculus teacher. After studying Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M and Mathematics at the University of Houston, Bryan's advanced math skills (as well as other subjects) and his natural teaching abilities soon proved to be a formula for success for struggling students. Since then, he has helped countless students gain confidence and success in the rigorous environments of Houston’s college preparatory high schools. Bryan offers a range of one-on-one and group tutoring settings and is known for his ability to adapt teaching styles to the individual needs of his clients. He also communicates frequently with faculty to understand their curricula and classroom expectations.
OUR MISSION
We believe a successful student is more than a straight-A report card. Our goal is to give students the skills they need to be successful on their own. If our mission is accomplished, we will have worked ourselves out of a job!
TUTORING SESSIONS
EPIC Tutoring was built with your convenience in mind. We’ve never met a schedule so crazy we couldn’t tackle it. Tutors meet students where they learn best, whether that’s at school, at home, or at a coffeeshop away from distractions.
MEET OUR TEAM
William Phenicie
William was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He succeeded in school most of his life, however, once he hit high school things changed. He struggled more and more with the various challenges of high school and became increasingly disorganized. After fighting through it on his own with no avail, he decided to get a tutor. That tutor happened to be Bryan from EPIC Tutoring! After adopting the organizational habits taught by EPIC Tutoring, he turned around his GPA and became a very successful student, receiving merit scholarships from many universities.
Now, a college student, he pursues his passion for computers in studying Cyber Security and Computer Science. He spends most of his free time hanging out at his Cyber Security club. And, at the end of the day, he likes to wind down by playing some Minecraft with friends.
Taylor Allen
Taylor was born and raised in Houston, Texas and now lives in Austin, Texas. She attended high school at Houston Christian High School and now is in her third year at The University of Texas at Austin as a Plan II and psychology major.
Taylor loves teaching and mentoring students of all ages. In middle and high school, she frequently offered tutoring sessions for struggling peers. She was a teaching assistant in high school, and now is a teaching assistant for two classes in the Plan II program. Taylor is excited to share the tools and skill sets that helped her succeed in high school and continue to serve her in college, especially as she looks toward graduate school.
In her free time, Taylor enjoys trying new restaurants, reading fantasy novels, and watching Marvel movies.
Rebecca Morales
Rebecca grew up in Houston and graduated from MacArthur High School. Her passion for education started while earning her Bachelors at Rice University. She taught high school mathematics before earning her Masters in Math Education at the University of Houston. She currently works as a university math lecturer.
For Rebecca, learning isn’t about being good or bad at a subject. If you’re struggling with a concept, it’s a matter of inexperience or a need for a new perspective. We’ve been taught that success is about getting all the correct answers, but it’s actually about the process of trial-and-error, learning how to adapt your thinking. Rebecca spends her free time with her family and is excited to teach her young children how to explore the world as they grow.
